Iittala Art House is well known for its architecture. This Art Nouveau -style building was designed in 1910 by architect Lars Sonck (1870-1956), who´s known as one of the most significant architects of the Finnish National Romantic period. Lars Sonck's best-known works include Kultaranta, Finnish presidential summer residence, and Ainola, home of Finland´s most famous composer Jean Sibelius. Iittala Art house building was originally a residence for Claes Norstedt, director of Iittala Class Factory. Later the building was known for decades as Iittala City Hall. Iittala Art House is located right in the center of Iittala just a short walk from the glass center and exhibition of Naivistic Art.
